How the flywheel works
Two loops that feed each other. The Relay: every launch buys the coins launched before it. The Spin: every dev can turn their creator fees into a buyback and burn. No contract, no server wallet, no database: every step is a transaction from the creator's own wallet, and the site reads everything back from Solana.
01 The Relay
When you launch, you set a budget between 0.05 and 2 SOL. 20% of it (at least 0.01 SOL, at most 0.3 SOL) buys the last 3 coins launched on FLYWHEEL, split evenly. The rest is your dev buy. You keep every token the relay buys, so every dev is a holder of the coins before them.
The floor keeps a relay from being dust; the cap keeps a big launch from pouring too much into other people's coins. With fewer than 3 earlier coins, the relay goes into what exists; the very first launch relays into nothing and keeps its whole budget.
Skipped targets, walking back to find 3 that qualify: your own earlier coins, coins pump.fun withholds (banned, nsfw or an offensive name), dead coins (older than 3 days with no trades in 24 hours), and coins no trade route can reach right now. Graduated coins are bought on PumpSwap (PumpPortal's pool "auto").
One wallet prompt, several transactions. Transaction 1 is the pump.fun create and your dev buy, stamped with flywheel:1:launch and a 0-SOL touch of the registry 3JxSiXg838r44GZP4pTcD7gTzsbnUdnjpMGBkz5n3u5p. The relay follows as 1 to 3 more transactions: three bonding-curve buys plus the stamp measure 1,248 bytes, over Solana's 1,232, so two buys go in one transaction (999 to 1,031 bytes measured) and the third in another (748 to 779; a PumpSwap buy alone is 1,126). Each carries flywheel:1:relay:<first 6 characters of your mint> and the registry touch. The relay is sent only after your launch confirms.
Checks. The server builds and simulates everything and refuses a launch above dev buy × 1.25 + 0.1 SOL, or a relay above its pot plus 10% slippage, PumpPortal's fee, token-account rent and network fees. Right before your wallet opens, your browser re-reads the current targets and refuses if they moved, then checks every relay transaction: one signer, only pump.fun, PumpSwap, PumpPortal's router, token and system programs, the exact memo, and every buy is one of the targets.
What counts. The index credits a relay only when it lands within 10 minutes of its launch, is signed by that launch's creator, and buys a FLYWHEEL coin among the 6 launched just before, made by someone else. Each coin shows its relays received, in SOL and count.
02 The Spin
A coin's creator presses Spin on the coin page. One transaction, one prompt: PumpPortal's collectCreatorFee claims the creator fees (the bonding-curve vault and, in the same call, the PumpSwap vault), a buy spends 90% of what the claim delivers on the coin, and a burn destroys exactly the tokens that buy delivers, stamped flywheel:1:spin.
The claim is simulated first to measure it. pump.fun and PumpSwap buys are exact-out (a fixed token amount with a SOL ceiling), so the burn equals the buy's token amount, confirmed by the simulated balance change. The buy's ceiling at 5% slippage plus PumpPortal's fee must sit under the claim, so a spin never spends SOL you didn't just claim; the whole transaction is refused if it would cost your wallet more than 0.004 SOL beyond the claim (fees and, the first time, a token account's rent), or if it would touch tokens you already held.
Measured on mainnet by simulation with real creator wallets: 1,032 to 1,042 bytes on the bonding curve; about 1,190 to 1,210 bytes after graduation.
03 The Wheel
Every FLYWHEEL coin is a spoke, in launch order. Thicker, lit spokes have received more relays; a lit tip means the coin has been spun. The speed is real: the RPM is 2 × log2(1 + 10 × SOL), where SOL is what moved through relays and spins in the last 24 hours, capped at 30. Nothing moved, the wheel stands still. The pressure gauge counts relays and spins in the last 24 hours.
04 Honest limits
- The flywheel only spins while people launch and trade. No launches, no relays; no trading, no fees to spin.
- Relay buys are real buys with real risk. You are buying other people's memecoins. They can go to zero.
- Burns reduce supply but don't guarantee a price. A spin is a buy followed by a burn; the market decides the rest.
- Creator fees are pooled per wallet. pump.fun keeps one fee vault per creator wallet across all of its coins, so a spin claims every coin's fees and buys back only the one you spin. Use one wallet per coin.
- Claims below 0.005 SOL are refused as dust. PumpPortal's
pool: "pump-amm"fee claim answers 400 (re-checked); itspool: "pump"claim collects the PumpSwap vault too, so graduated coins can spin. - A relay can miss if a target's price moves past the slippage between the simulation and the send; your launch still stands, only that buy doesn't happen. Relay SOL per coin is the relay transaction's spend split evenly across its buys (FLYWHEEL builds equal buys).
- The index lives in memory and rebuilds from the chain after a restart. Market caps come from Jupiter, then pump.fun.
